About me
With over 17 years of experience in higher education, I am committed to promoting educational equity and expanding access for minoritized and economically disadvantaged students. I have worked across various functional areas in the California State University system, California Community Colleges, and the non-profit sector. As a TRIO Director for nearly a decade, I apply this knowledge in my role as a national TRIO trainer for Priority 5.
My unique experiences as a mixed-race CHamoru and Mexican individual who is system-impacted, formerly incarcerated, and neurodivergent have fueled my curiosity to explore the dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression. These identities inspire my research and advocacy for dismantling oppressive policies and practices within education.
I completed my doctoral coursework in community college leadership at California State University, Fullerton, where I focused my research on how colleges influence the cultural identity development of Indigenous and diasporic CHamoru students. I deeply value collaboration, innovation, and working with others to create meaningful social change. I am always eager to connect with like-minded teams dedicated to empowering students and uplifting communities.
